Where to catch Reshiram in Pokemon Black and White 2

(NOTE: This will only work in Pokemon White 2. If you own Pokemon Black 2 you'll have to trade for Reshiram.)

The white twin of jet black Zekrom, Reshiram is a potent dragon-type pokemon that can make mincemeat of most run-of-the-mill beasts. Though the star of Pokemon Black originally, it makes a return appearance in Pokemon White 2 - and you can catch the thing, with some work.

Go to Victory Road after defeating Ghetsis (which is more or less mandatory) and climb to the top. On the final hill, if you stick to the left side of the screen, you'll see a Zoroark standing in front of a cave. Follow it in and tag the creature until it leads you down to Team Plasma's old castle. Inside you'll find N, who will bring out Reshiram for you to challenge. Beat the beast - but don't try to catch it just yet. Defeat Reshiram and N will reduce it to a stone, one of the key items from Pokemon Black and White, and give you the stone.

Once you have access to Icirrus City, climb to the top of Dragonspiral Tower. At the top the stone will revert back to Reshiram. Now you can fight and capture it as you would any legendary.

Where to catch Zekrom in Pokemon Black and White 2

(NOTE: Zekrom is only available in Pokemon Black 2. If you have White 2 you'll have to trade for it.)

The legendary pokemon of Pokemon White, Zekrom is back for another round in Pokemon Black and White 2. In fact, it's somewhat integral to the plot, though the part it plays is admittedly small and comes right at the end. Nevertheless, you can catch this pokemon as before - though it's a bit trickier to do this time around.

You can't catch Zekrom for your team until after you've defeated Ghetsis and made your way to Victory Road. On your way up Victory Road, towards the Pokemon League, you'll have to climb a mountain face. If you watch the left side of the mountain you'll see a Zoroark standing in front of a cave. Chase the Zoroark into the cave and follow it down into the ruins of Team Plasma's old castle. Inside, in his throne room, you'll find N waiting. He'll present Zekrom. Fight and beat it. Don't bother trying to capture it, that won't work.

Once you've trounced Zekrom, N will reduce it to a stone that will look familiar to players of the old games. Take this stone to Dragonspiral Tower, north of Icirrus City, and climb to the town of the tower. Once there the stone will come to life and return Zekrom to its original form. Now you can battle and capture the pokemon.

Where to catch Kyurem in Pokemon Black and White 2

As the cover pokemon of both Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2, Kyurem is an obvious target for capture. It's the only ice- and dragon-type pokemon in existence, and its legendary status make it a fantastic sweeper for any non-competitive team. It also shows up fairly often in the story... though you're left annoyed by the fact that you can't catch the stupid thing.

Unfortunately, you can't get Kyurem on your first traipse through the game. You'll encounter it several times, and even have to beat it in its fused form, but you can't catch it. Your only battle will be blocked by Ghetsis' technology. Go through the main game, beat up Team Plasma, take out the Elite Four and the champion, and then reload your game to begin the post-game content.

Once that's done, go back to the Giant Chasm. You'll find the area clear of giant airships. Proceed north through the chasm (which is MUCH easier in this game than it was in Pokemon Black and White) until you find the cave where you fought Kyurem and Ghetsis the first time. Go inside and head to the back. You'll find Kyurem waiting for you in its original form, and you can catch it as you would any other legendary.

Where to catch a Cubchoo in Pokemon Black and White 2

Anyone who's gotten to the end of Pokemon Black and White 2 understands the importance of having a pokemon that can trounce dragon-types in their teams, and that makes ice-types a good choice for wading into the final parts of the game. Ice-types are depressingly difficult to find in this new version, however, as their old haunt - Twist Mountain - is closed until you BEAT the champion. What's to be done if you want a Cubchoo to evolve into a fearsome Beartic?

Fortunately, there are two ways to snag a Cubchoo beyond Twist Mountain. In fact, they don't appear in Twist Mountain at all! And, conveniently, both methods can be found on Route 7.

- The first, easier method for getting a Cubchoo is to check Route 7 in the winter. When the snows are high they'll appear fairly regularly in the grass. If you don't feel like waiting, you can always reset your DS' internal clock to a wintery month.

- The second, much more difficult method is via Route 7's Hidden Grotto. Proceed north towards Twist Mountain until you find the second house where you can bed down and recover. The grotto is accessible via the two trees directly to the left of the house, close to the ramp up to the narrow beams. The chances of getting a Cubchoo here are exceedingly small, however, and it's much smarter to just reset your internal clock.

Where to catch a Cryogonal in Pokemon Black and White 2

Cryogonal, though a bit of a one-shot cannon when it comes to battling other pokemon, is nevertheless a great choice if you want to bring down the champion in Pokemon Black and White 2 in a big hurry. So where do you find one of these weird-looking pokemon? They appeared on Twist Mountain before, and as most players will discover, you can't get into Twist Mountain in Pokemon Black and White 2.

This last part is actually just a misconception from players who haven't BEATEN said game at least once. After you've trounced the Elite Four and the champion a single time, Twist Mountain will be open for business on both ends. Fly to Mistralton City and you can walk right in and find a Cryogonal. Once again, this is the only place to find them in the game.

... which means that you can't rely on a Cryogonal to help you beat the champion on your first ride through. Dang. Well, there are always trades, right?

Where to catch a Durant in Pokemon Black and White 2

Durants are capable bug- and steel-type pokemon, though they didn't serve well as early team pokemon in Black and White because, unfortunately, they didn't show up until you were most of the way through the main game, appearing on Victory Road. The same is still true in Pokemon Black and White 2.

Durant appears in two places in Pokemon Black and White 2:

- First, Durant appears in Twist Mountain. Simply wander around the caves for a while and one will eventually pop up.

- And, second, Durant appears in the Clay Tunnel, most easily accessed in Driftveil City. Wander and one will appear.

The rub? Both of these locations are opened after you beat the Elite Four for the first time. Once again, Durant is given the shaft during the main game. Sorry!

Where to catch a Volcarona in Pokemon Black and White 2

As one of the best bug-type pokemon available - where else will you find a bug that can use Fly? - Volcarona is in high demand among Pokemon Black and White 2 players. There are few bug-types which can serve so effectively as sweepers, especially considering the game's collection of Elite Four. So how to you snag a Volcarona?

Doing so is essentially the same as it was in Pokemon Black and White, though you have less options. The single Volcarona in these games is found at the bottom of the Relic Castle, just as it was in Black and White. This time, however, you'll have to go through the Relic Passage to get to it. You can do this by travelling through the sewers in Castelia City. Search long enough and you'll find the lower part of the Relic Castle ruins, buried under the Desert Resort. A Volcarona is waiting within.

This leaves one more question open: how do you get Volcarona's pre-evolution, Larvesta? There are only two ways: trade or breed. Larvesta is given to you by a trainer in Black and White, and you can trade that pokemon over to fill up your Pokedex. Lacking that, you'll have to breed Volcarona with another pokemon. Make sure you fight a female Volcarona if you want to get a Larvesta.
